I've got some big news to post- although hopefully people have heard
about it so it's not BIG news...

CIBMTR Milwaukee is moving on Wed., May 7, 2008 to a single location in
the new Cancer Center. All staff are getting new phone numbers
(different phone system), but E-mail addresses should remain the same.
Don't expect much in the way of communication on Wed, May 7, and it is
advisable to not send faxes that day. As of the next day we should be
up and running.

Best regards,

Diane

What is the Mentoring Committee?
The CIBMTR Mentoring Committee is an international group of Clinical Research Associates who are willing to help others in their field. It is a wonderful group of people who want to help and learn with others who are doing the same work. The mentoring committee is a great resource for all involved in the ever-changing world of clinical research.
If you have a question or just want to correspond with someone who is doing the same job as you, just send your e-mail to a member of the committee.
To get in contact with a mentor, go to www.mentors.blogspot.com or use the link “Mentors”.
We have also listed some useful links – try them!

Introduction to the web site by Mary M. Horowitz, MD, MS, Scientific Director, Professor of Medicine
Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that, thanks to the efforts of many dedicated CIBMTR clinical research professionals from transplant centers in several countries, that there is now a website devoted to issues faced by data managers in collecting and reporting data to the CIBMTR. This Web site is designed to positively impact the effectiveness of clinical research professionals involved in the IBMTR and other BMT and cancer-related clinical research.

The site features the following:
-Answers to frequently (and not so frequently) asked questions about hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the CIBMTR.
-The opportunity for experienced professional mentors to assist new/inexperienced data managers with specific challenges.
-Comprehensive directions on how to properly complete the myriad of forms encountered every day by new and experienced data managers
-Help for data managers preparing for audits with practical tips from the personal experiences of other data managers.
-Many useful internal and external links to related websites, e.g. on-line medical dictionary or a helping-hand guide for data managers.

We hope that this website will shrink the “information gap” between the Statistical Center and clinical research professionals in participating transplant center. We also see the site as a clearing-house to improve efficiency, identify pitfalls, and overcome stumbling blocks by the continuous exchange of tips, shortcuts and new ideas.
Please take advantage of this site at www.datamanager.blogspot.com or through the link at www.ibmtr.org.
Thank you for your continuing efforts in the CIBMTR Research program.

Sincerely,

Mary M. Horowitz
